What's New? (1/23/2012)

Ralph K. Bell celebrates his 97th birthday on January 27. A legend in the birding annuals of Western Pennsylvania, he is probably best known for the wonderful invitation he has extended for years to all bird watchers in Western Pennsylvania - to join him on his farm for one day each spring to share his love of birds and birding...and what adventures we have experienced with him. His daughter, Joan Bell Pattison, has asked us to send him cards and letters on this occasion and share our fond memories and favorite moments with him. Send your best wishes to Ralph K. Bell, 179 Pollock Mill Road, Clarksville, PA 15322.
The Biggest Week in American Birding has some changes listed on the website for this year and may affect your planning. The headquarters for events, vendors and lodging has moved to Maumee Bay State Park, west of the popular bird venues at Ottawa NWR and Magee Marsh. Check the Black Swamp Bird Observatory website for more info.
The January 2012 issue of the Peregrine is available now on-line.

Pennsylvania Birds magazine: See what you've been missing! By Geoff
Malosh, Editor of Pennsylvania Birds. I am pleased to announce that we will now be
publishing previews of the current issue of Pennsylvania Birds online, which will consist of
the cover, table of contents, and a featured article. Now anyone who does not subscribe or
perhaps does not even know about PSO can actually see a little bit of what they've been
missing, and hopefully be encouraged to join PSO! Read more from Geoff about Pennsylvania Birds.
We are completing ten years as an organization, and in the process, have
