Senate Decides Fate of Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
Your help is needed now!
Dear Jack and Members of the 3
Rivers Birding Club,
You may already know that the U.S. Senate is deciding the
fate of the Arctic National Wildlife
Refuge in January or February. Efforts are afoot to let
Senator Arlen Specter know that we BIRDERS AND LOVERS OF
NATURE here in Pennsylvania, Democrats and Republicans alike,
would appreciate his vote against the amendement to the
energy bill that would allow oil exploration and recovery
of oil/natural gas in the ANWR.
The Alaska Coalition and other national, regional and state
organizations are co-sponsoring a letter addressed to Senator
Specter and I am imploring each member of the 3rbc to please
sign the special letter and have other relatives and friends
do the same. Here are the simple steps to follow:
Send a personal e-mail to Emily Ferry emily@alaskacoalition.org
BEFORE JANUARY 6 with your
full name, home address and e-mail address.
Request that Emily send you a copy of the letter via e-mail
to read and make a copy for RELATIVES/FRIENDS who do not
have e-mail to send via snail mail to Emily.
Be CERTAIN to add any title you may have in the 3RBC since
the letter is meant to show organizational affiliations
as well as individual, personal names.

In sum, let's show Senator Specter that there are MANY OF
HIS CONSTITUENTS WHO WANT TO PRESERVE THE LAST 5% ALASKA
COASTAL PLAIN WILDERNESS FOR ALL LIFE, BOTH NATURAL AND
HUMAN, FOR ALL FUTURE GENERATIONS.
By the way, Emily Ferry, is the young woman who BIKED THROUGH
WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA AND STAYED WITH MANY OF US this autumn
for the ANWR cause. She biked 4,000 miles from Seattle to
Washington, DC. Let's NOT LET HER DOWN at this point in
the scheme of things. Many thanks Gene Wilhelm, Fellow Birder.
