DCNR Recreation Survey

Those of us interested in passive, low-impact, outdoor recreation such as hiking, birding, wildlife photography, etc. should certainly call and request a DCNR Recreation Survey. If you belong to a bird club, outing club, etc., please include that information with your address on the survey. There are NO questions directly pertaining to birding or other low-impact recreation, but there is space for written comments, so please use it. Remember:

"Ten who speak out are louder than ten thousand who remain silent."

Be assured that those whose passion involves ATVs, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, off-road 4WD vehicles, jet-skis, etc., will be very vocal!

If you have not received a survey from DCNR, you can obtain one by calling Dr. Bill Elmendorf (Penn State University) at (814) 863-7941. Email requests will not be accepted.

If you have already called this number and have not yet received a survey, please be patient. There is only one staff person assigned to this project.

Be also advised that only those people whose surveys have been sent out by Penn State University will be accepted. Copies of surveys sent in by people who are not on that list will be discarded. The ATV folks have been informed of this in no uncertain terms, according to the message posted on their website from Carol Leitzeil, School of Forest Resources, Penn State University.
