2003 Raccoon Creek IBA Point Counts
(Chuck Tague)

Following is a letter dated June 28, 2003 from Chuck Tague to Steve Hoffman regarding the Raccoon Creek IBA Point Counts:

Dear Steve,

Enclosed are the original data sheets from the 2003 Raccoon Creek, PA013, IBA Point counts.

All five routes were covered three times. Cerulean Warblers, Blue-winged Warblers, Wood Thrushes and Acadian Flycatchers were well represented. Unfortunately I was asked to coordinate the project too late to census Louisiana Waterthrushes but we'll start earlier next year.

There were no surprises although one team consistently found Black-throated Green Warblers in the vicinity of the pine/spruce plantations through mid June. I hope to find time to check for evidence of breeding.

I entered all the data on EBIRD.

I had great volunteer support from the Three Rivers Bird Club, The Wissahickon Nature Club of Western Pennsylvania and the Nature Observer News. Carol and Fred McCullough did a great job setting the stakes. Counters and assistants were Linda Sporrer, Bob Van Newkirk, Scott Kinzey, Randi and Sarah Gerrish, Carol and Fred, Hope King, Joan Tague and myself.

Looking forward to next year.
