North American Migration Count
Saturday, May 8, 2004
Dont forget to participate in the North American Migration Count on Saturday, May 8. There is still time to volunteer for this annual count of migrating birds as well as locally resident species.
Birders in Allegheny County report their species and numbers to compilers Carol and Fred McCullough, who tabulate the totals and submit them to the journal Pennsylvania Birds. Although it is extensively urban, Allegheny County has a wealth of migrant hotspots, and there is no scarcity of places to bird during the migration.
Carol and Fred emphasize that many areas in the county have not been covered in the past. If you would like to help, call them at 412-921-6873 or send an e-mail note to carolmcc@juno.com or fredmcc@juno.com.
