Allegheny Group of the Sierra
Club
features "Pale Male"
On Wednesday, May 11th, the Allegheny Group of the Sierra
Club will be showing the movie, "Pale Male" highlighting the life and loves of Manhattan's and
perhaps the world's most famous red-tailed hawk. This
is the bird that made international news by having its nesting platform removed from the 5th Avenue apartment
where it had raised several broods of young over the preceding years. The nest site was restored after
the issue was raised in the media. It's a great show, sure to thrill the whole family. Join us at Botany Hall, adjacent
to Phipps Conservatory and across from the Schenley Park Visitors Center, at 7:30PM. All birders welcome.
Visit http://www.palemale.com
to view an astonishing array of hawk photographs which were
taken over a period of years. The site also provides daily updates on the love life of Pale Male.
Voluntary donations also appreciated to cover the costs of making this
happen! Call Donald L. Gibbon, 412-362-8451, with questions or
send email to Donald at dongibbon@earthlink.net. Note:
the Sierra Club meetings are normally at the Phipps Garden Center in Mellon
Park this meeting is not there.
