Ross Gallardy's Team Wins
World Series Birding
Youth Division
The decision by 3RBC's officers to sponsor 15 year old
3RBC member Ross Gallardy's World Series of Birding youth team to the tune of two hundred dollars
($200.00) paid a dividend when the team he organized, Nikon's Space Coast Coastal Cuckoos, won the Youth
Division of the World Series of Birding this weekend in New Jersey.
The Cuckoos 212 species, found all over Jersey, in 24 hours, crushed the old youth record of 192. In a
field of 98 youth and adult teams, they came in tied with Pete Dunn's group for third overall, Among the
teams that trailed Ross's was the Cornell adults.
In President's Message a few issues ago, I spoke about Ross in superlatives. He's justified them.
We can all be proud to know him. The money the Cuckoos raised will go to support work at the
Allegheny Front Hawk Watch and Buffalo Creek Valley #22 in Butler and Armstrong Counties;
two areas we love and use.
