Three Rivers Birding Club

Sierra Club (Allegheny Group) Monthly Meeting
"Birds of Pittsburgh - You'd be Amazed!"

The Sierra Club (Allegheny Group) will be featuring Mike Fialkovich, Birder Extraordinaire, from the Three Rivers Birding Club at their monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 11 from 7:30-9:00PM at Phipps Garden Center (5th & Shady Avenues) in Squirrel Hill.

One recent evening about sundown several of us watched as hundreds of chimney swifts circled chattering overhead and in the space of five minutes plummeted headlong vertically at top speed down a tall chimney in East Liberty. there to spend a quiet night together on the roost. This is one of scores of remarkable avian phenomena anyone can see if they know where to look. And Mike Fialkovich knows more about where to look than almost anyone. He is a living treasure of bird knowledge who shares what he knows with anyone who'll listen and spends a great deal of time organizing his knowledge on behalf of others. For example, he is a major leader in creating the PA Breeding Bird Atlas, coordinating volunteers to map the locations of every nesting bird in the Commonwealth. Not only this, but he does it all with great good humor and a very funny demeanor.

Join us to learn about the region's bird life, when they're here, where they are, what they are... the works. Guaranteed to be a memorable evening.

Free, and open to the public.
