Three Rivers Birding Club

January 2006 Outings

Tuesday,  January 17 — Carnegie Library

Our club members are invited to a bird-oriented visit at the Special Collections Department in Carnegie Public Library's main branch in Oakland. Original prints of Audubon's Birds of America, a first edition of Alexander Wilson's American Ornithology, and other beautiful and rare editions of bird-related books will be available for close inspection. Meet Eric Marchbein (412-521-1410) at 6 PM at the Job Center on the library’s third floor.

Saturday, January 28 — Lawrence County Farm Country

Jim Valimont (412-828-5338) will lead this outing in search of Snow Buntings, Horned Larks, Lapland Longspurs, Rough-legged Hawks, Sandhill Cranes, and Short-eared Owls. To minimize local residents’ anxiety about many vehicles and people on the roadside, only two vehicles will be taken on this outing, requiring advance reservations. Call Jim to reserve a spot. We will meet at noon in the park-and-ride lot in Cranberry to organize the two carpools.
