Saturday June 5 - Oil City State Park
Meet Dick Nugent (412-487-5549) at the bike trail parking lot in Petroleum Center at 9:00 AM. It takes about 2 hours to drive from Pittsburgh to the parking lot. From Pittsburgh take I-79 north to I-80. Drive east on I-80 to Route 8. Go north on Route 8 through Oil City and continue north on Route 8 to the Borough of Rouseville and then about a mile further turn right on State Route 1007 (State Park Road). Follow SR 1007 to Petroleum Center and the Park Office. Directions are also on our website. We should encounter a nice selection of breeding birds, especially warblers.
Saturday June 12 - Hunter's Lane (Donegal)
This outing to Hunter's Lane near Donegal, Pa will be led by Mike Fialkovich (412-731-3581). We will search for nesting warblers, vireos and tanagers. Take the PA turnpike to the Donegal exit, then go east on Route 31 for a ½ mile to the Dairy Queen. We will meet at 7:30 AM and travel to Hunter's Lane.
Saturday June 19 - Pymatuning Area
Meet leader Mike Fialkovich (412-731-3581) at the Wildlife Learning Center (Waterfowl Museum) at 8:30 AM for this outing of nesting warbles and other song birds. Take I-79 north to Route 6, and go west to Linesville. Turn left at the light in Linesville where the sign points toward the Pymatuning spillway. The sign for the center will be on the left, past the fish hatchery and before the spillway. Bring lunch or eat at a local restaurant.
